| The Birthday Girl! |
Today is one of my bestie's birthday. Debbie and I were introduced by another one of our friends, Julie. We've all three been through a lot of life together. We don't have time today to go through all of our adventures but one adventure in particular always makes me laugh and smile just thinking about it. Julie was getting married to the guy of her dreams. She had planned everything down to what undergarments her bridesmaids wore. So she sent two of her bridesmaids to Dillards to buy the hosiery. You guessed it ....that would be Debbie & me off to Dillards to buy these shimmery pantyhose. Julie had written down what color and brand to buy. So Debbie & I got to Dillards and walked up and down the hosiery department looking for Givenchy hose in a shimmery, soft taupe color. We just couldn't find them. So we stopped one of the Dillard's hosiery employees and asked if she knew where the Givenchy hose were. She looked at us funny and said they didn't sell that hosiery there. So we called Julie on the cellphone and explained that we had looked ALL over Dillard's hosiery department and that their sales lady had just told us they don't sell Givenchy hosiery. Our comments were met with so much laughter and frankly I think she stopped breathing for a few seconds that Debbie and I were like "what did we do?" When Julie finally could talk she said, "It's pronounced
jhee-von-SHEE. Not gu-ven-chi!" Now Debbie & I were doubled over in the hosiery department in Dillards laughing so hard that the sales lady was smiling at us and I'm certain thought we were a bit touched. When we finally calmed down we had to then ask for "jhee-von-shee" hose and of course the sales lady knew exactly where those were. To this very day this event still makes me laugh and almost every time I get together with Debbie and Julie this story gets told again with a lot of laughter.

I've been blessed with friends who love me even when I don't know how to pronounce Givenchy. Today I'm very thankful for a friend who was just as clueless as I was and helped make many hysterical memories with me in my 20s, 30s, 40 and now 50s.
Happy Birthday, Debbie!
